Can both devices play at once?

No. Two Bluetooth devices can be connected, but only one plays audio or handles a call at a time. Pause the first source before starting the second.

Can I use the analog cable with an empty battery?

No. Analog listening requires the headphones to be on and have sufficient charge. Include charging in your travel plan even when carrying the cable.
